* What kind of cleaners should be used for plating on Aluminum materials?
Aluminum, amphoteric metal, is usually dissolved in solutions with pH values out of the range between pH 3.5-8.5
Typical cleaners, strong alkaline (higher than pH13), are not suitable to aluminum cleaning. As a result, special cleaners ,
which is close to neutral, without strong alkaline contents like sodium hydroxide, such as Pakuna AL-51, should be selected.
* What is the good solution when plate adhesion to stainless-steel materials is not enough?
Stainless-steel, which is alloy including chromium, nickel, always has thin oxide film on its surface,
The film deteriorates the adhesion. Take the following measures.
1) Please use hydrochloric acid with pH of 4 or lower for pickling after acid activation
2) Please use acidic bath for zinc plating (High adhesion is impossible in other type bathes.)
* What is the good solution when plating on high carbon steel materials is difficult?
About high carbon steel including 0.35 or higher carbon. High carbon steel is mostly heat-treated, covered with very thick oxide films, producing many smuts due to large amount of carbon. Take the following measures.
1) Use hydrochloric acid with adequate concentration for pickling. (Too high concentration generates many smuts, too low can
not remove oxide films.)
2) Electro-cleaning at anode using V,J, Z-1with powerful chelate effects should be applied.
* Is there any problems to use a zinc plate as anode for zincate plating?
Iron plate use as anode and adjustment of zinc concentration in the bath are typical; however, zinc plate may also be used
depending on each space. Take the following notes.
1) Zn concentration is controlled by size of a zinc plate. Frequent analysis of the concentration is recommended since the
consumed amounts is unclear.
2) Too small Zn plate is black oxidized, resulting in remaining undissolved.
3) When Zn plate is placed close to the bath wall, current flow is not uniform, resulting in poor covering power.
* What are the procedures for zinc-plating on castings?
Please use acidic Zn plating bath for castings. Please take the following notes.
1) Make zinc concentration high.
2) Strong air blowing is necessary since high current is often applied.
3) Larger volume of brightener is needed to obtain better brightness.
Answer about Pakuna RPC-10S/B
* What materials of tank and hose for their automatic replenishment are recommended ?
As their materials, PE for tank and teflon for MP hose are recommended.
Answer about Metasu YC
* Is it available for Aluminum type materials?
Treatment (applying, film-forming) is possible; however, it is difficult to know whether white products at corrosion resistance
evaluation is caused by material A or Zn in Metasu YC film.
The effect is almost same as that of conventional 6valent chromium treatment.
Answer about Y Coating
* What kind of material is recommended for Y coating?
Possible for Steels tempered at 500 ℃ or higher such as SKD, SKH.
* What are maximum dimensions of treated materials?
Possible for materials of up toφ750×750 and 400 kg.
* Is the coating possible to be flaked?
Possible to flake due to our technique without scratching base.
* Is it capable of treating to shrinkage-fitted, injected, welded and builded surfaces?
Possible as a whole due to our special pre-processes.
* How is the best among various types selected?
Our engineers suggest you most suitable one considering each damage.
